Honoring Humanity: Nominations Now Open for the 2025 Humanitarian Awards and Summit

The 2025 Humanitarian Awards and Summit has officially opened its nomination process, inviting the general public to recognize and celebrate outstanding individuals, organizations, and initiatives that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to humanitarian service. As preparations gear up for this prestigious event, scheduled to hold from August 19th to August 22nd, 2025, the organizers are calling on stakeholders across various sectors to nominate those making a lasting impact in humanitarian work.

A Celebration of Humanitarian Excellence
The Humanitarian Awards and Summit is an annual event dedicated to recognizing and honoring individuals and organizations whose efforts have significantly contributed to poverty alleviation, healthcare, education, climate resilience, social justice, and other critical humanitarian causes. This year’s theme, “Building Bridges of Hope: Transforming Lives with Compassion and Innovation,” reflects the urgent need for collaborative efforts in tackling global humanitarian challenges.
In a strategic move to expand the event’s impact, the 2025 edition will feature a workshop, a summit, humanitarian outreach programs, and the grand awards and dinner night.

August 20th – Humanitarian Workshop: This session is designed to empower humanitarian actors by equipping them with essential skills, insights, and resources to improve their work. Participants will gain valuable knowledge on how to access funding and grants, implement sustainable projects, and explore new areas of impact. The workshop will also serve as a networking hub, bringing funders, policymakers, and frontline humanitarians together to foster partnerships.

August 21st – Humanitarian Summit: This high-level event will convene global leaders, government officials, nonprofit organizations, corporate changemakers, and frontline workers to discuss the evolving landscape of humanitarian work. Through panel discussions, keynote addresses, and strategic dialogues, the summit will highlight policy frameworks, innovative humanitarian solutions, and actionable strategies for impact.

August 22nd – Humanitarian Awards & Dinner Night: The grand celebration of humanitarian excellence, where extraordinary individuals and organizations will be recognized for their selfless contributions. This night of inspiration, networking, and recognition will shine a spotlight on the heroes transforming lives and communities across Nigeria and beyond.
Additionally, outreach programs will be carried out in collaboration with various humanitarian organizations to directly impact vulnerable communities, reinforcing the event’s mission of real-time humanitarian service.

A Word from the Leadership

Speaking on this year’s expanded format, Emmanuel Anabueze, President of the Humanitarian Awards and Summit, emphasized the importance of not just celebrating humanitarians but also empowering them with knowledge, resources, and networks to enhance their impact.

“Over the years, we have seen remarkable individuals and organizations dedicate their lives to humanitarian causes. However, beyond recognition, we also have a responsibility to support and equip these changemakers. That is why we have introduced the Humanitarian Workshop and Summit as integral parts of this year’s event.

The workshop will provide practical guidance on how to access funding, write compelling grant proposals, and explore new areas of humanitarian work. The summit will, in turn, serve as a thought leadership platform, bringing together policymakers, private sector leaders, and development experts to shape the future of humanitarian action.

More than ever, humanitarian work needs collaboration, sustainability, and innovation. We are not just honoring heroes; we are ensuring they have the tools, connections, and support needed to continue their work on a much larger scale.”

In addition, Miss Amina Muhammad, Vice President of the Humanitarian Awards and Summit, reiterated the importance of public participation in the nomination process, emphasizing that every individual has the power to recognize and uplift those making a difference.

“Humanitarianism is about impact, and impact thrives on recognition and encouragement. Too often, those dedicating their time, resources, and efforts to bettering the lives of others go unnoticed. This is why we are calling on the general public to actively participate in the nomination process.

Every person, organization, or community group that has contributed positively to society deserves to be acknowledged. Whether it’s an individual feeding the hungry, an NGO fighting for education rights, a corporate entity championing sustainability, or a policymaker creating inclusive policies—their work matters.

This year’s edition is bigger because we believe that humanitarianism is more than just an event; it is a movement for change. Through the workshop and summit, we want to empower humanitarians with the skills to do more, and through the awards, we want to encourage them to keep going. Let us all play our part by nominating those who inspire hope and drive positive change in our communities.”
